WHO IS YELLOW?
Yellow is someone who has a young, yet old soul and loves to express her creativity. I love to step out of the box. At a young age, I expressed my creativity by painting, designing my clothes, poetry, dancing, and rapping. I'm from Fort Pierce, FL (772), a city where it’s “hard to come up.” I've been inspired by many of the greatest artists, such as OutKast, Anita Baker, Missy Elliot, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye, Westside Boogie and more. The versatility of my music will anxiously leave you wondering, “what's next."
WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO CREATE MUSIC?
I love music period, but the strength of knowing where I come from it’s easy to get stuck or complacent. I have people ranging from all ages looking up to me. I want to show people that it’s possible to make it to the top staying true to what you believe in.
WHEN DID YOU DECIDE TO BECOME AN ARTIST?
Honestly, I never really woke up one day and decided “oh I’m going to be an artist." I’ve always done music my whole life, but no one knew I rapped until high school when I dropped my first rap video in my room, in the projects. I took it seriously once I got in high school after my poetry mentor, Hero, pushed me to participate in Louder Than A Bomb.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND?
My sound is confident. It can come off as pain with a soulful vibe and give you a free feeling.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR YELLOW?
I’m currently working on an EP that will be released by the beginning of next month. I had my first performance at A3C, and next month I’ll be going to NY to audition for America’s Got Talent!
