Cartiér is just a youngin from the dirty norff tryna make it out. All while encouraging the ones around me to push their talents and perfect their craft...be better. I've always been able to identify and relate to demographics other than my own. I like putting myself in other's shoes to get the best result so that I can inform in a way the immediate audience can relate. Young CEO shit.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY AS AN ARTIST.
It's been a beautiful struggle. the hard parts make me a bigger badder artist. I stay true to myself and strive to be nobody but myself. I wanna be one of the greatest to ever do this shit where I'm from. I value stability for me and my people more than clout, or whatever you wanna call it. I feel like I be in my own lane, so to be respected and credited for shit...I created or influenced its kind of big for me... other than that...money is the motive!
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND?
Nostalgic house trap? I got some hood banger anthems too (laughing) I don’t think I could put a cap on my sound though, I be making what I feel in my spirit. (laughing)
WHAT MADE YOU BECOME AN ARTIST?
My big brothers were always rapping. I used to be a producer cause I was too shy to rap what I really thought. Niggas started hearing me rap and told me I need to start laying my shit. All through middle and high school I surrounded myself with like-minded individuals, now that I'm really thinking, I can't remember a time I wasn't doing something musical (laughing). Everybody started fucking with my songs the long way and ever since I been Lil Carti. I've been doing this shit, I ain't really get hot in the city till my junior year of high school. I fell off for a min, went ghost. Since I came back shit been rolling. (laughing)
WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO CREATE MUSIC?
Shit, my life...Everything inspires me to create something.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR CARTIÉR?
Relocation, more content. I'm making some of the most timeless music right now. A lot of shit still hasn't been released.
